Job Title: Senior Software Engineer, File System

The world is experiencing explosive growth of digital content and unstructured data. The accelerating growth of user generated content, graphics intensive applications, and increased compliance requirements, combined with the increasing sizes of most file types is straining storage infrastructures worldwide. As a result, organizations are struggling to contain rising storage acquisition costs as well as operational expenses such as power, cooling and datacenter space.

A new solution is needed to optimize online content and reduce digital footprint.

Job Summary:
This engineer will be involved in design of, and own implementation of file system related enhancements to Ocarina’s Storage Optimization appliance. The Engineer will be a key member of a team that will design and implement the next generation of Ocarina’s File Aware Storage Optimization line of products.

Job Responsibilities:

Design and implement components of the Ocarina solution such as algorithms for file system search and indexing, file versioning, data reduction techniques, etc.
Write high performance code for fast retrieval of optimized data
Incorporate novel file layouts for optimal encryption, translation, compression / retrieval of file system data
Work quickly and efficiently to resolve technical issues
Be an advocate for getting solid designs and implementations incorporated into the product
Work with the customer support group as needed to resolve issues

Qualifications:

Excellent working knowledge of operating system fundamentals such as: virtual memory, process scheduling, VFS, etc.
Hands on experience creating products for Linux based systems
Excellent knowledge of file system and storage semantics
Hands on experience creating various file system and storage related features such as search and indexing, tiered storage solutions, storage snapshots, data reduction, etc.
Worked on multiple products through the full product life cycle from product concept to product release
Track record of being a key contributor at previous companies
Must have early stage start-up experience
Strong C programming skills
BS in CS, EE or related field, MS preferred
Minimum 8 years of experience designing and implementing file system related components
