Ocarina Optimizers
Ocarina’s flagship storage optimization application, the Ocarina 4400 sits on your storage network as a NAS client. It reads files from your existing storage platforms, applies Ocarina’s patented ECOsystem storage optimization algorithms and writes the optimized files back out to the storage platform of your choice. The Ocarina 4400 is specially designed for the intensive processing required for file type aware storage optimization. The 4400 includes sixteen 64-bit processing cores, as well as Ocarina’s specially-tuned storage operating system.

The Ocarina Optimizer is a completely out-of-band appliance. It post-processes your files after they have already been written to disk on your storage. Therefore, the Ocarina Optimizer does not affect the write performance of your applications, nor is it a point of failure in your storage network. If an Optimizer fails - indeed, if all of your Ocarina optimizers failed at the same time – the only consequence would be that no additional files would be optimized.

Ocarina 4400

An Ocarina Optimizer 4400 pair can process as much as 5 Terabytes a day of customer files, including already-compressed files, compound documents, and rich media files. At a 10:1 optimization ratio, the 4400 could generate as much as 500 GB a day of new free space – representing 44TB of storage per quarter that you don’t have to buy, cool, or power. For customers who wish to optimize more data per day, Ocarina 4400’s can be clustered together to optimize more data per day.
