Ocarina Readers
The Ocarina Reader is available in two forms – as software or as an integrated appliance.

The Ocarina Reader Site License
The Reader can be purchased as software and deployed on customers own systems. The Ocarina Reader can be deployed directly as a file system filter driver on customers’ Linux-based web or application servers, or the Reader can be deployed on dedicated servers that sit between existing NAS clients and file servers.

The Ocarina Reader software
By purchasing the Ocarina Reader Site license, you can deploy as many copies of the Ocarina Reader software as you want. This makes it simple and cost-effective to deploy completely fault tolerant configurations, where there are always Ocarina Reader instances available and running for fast realtime access to optimized files.

The Ocarina 2400R Reader Node
For customers who prefer a completely integrated turnkey solution, Ocarina provides the Ocarina 2400R Reader node. This is an Ocarina Linux server with a streamlined version of Linux and the Ocarina Reader software installed, configured, and tuned. The Ocarina 2400R provides the customer with a tested solution with a single point of support for a complete working Ocarina Reader appliance. The Ocarina Reader 2400R supports NFS and http (WebDAV) NAS traffic. The hardware and operating system of the 2400R have been selected to provide the best possible performance for NFS and http: WebDAV access to data at an affordable cost point.

As with the software version of the Ocarina Reader, customers can purchase as many Ocarina Readers as you need to meet both performance and availability requirements. Since Readers are stateless, any 2400R Reader can read any optimized file. Therefore, you can put together a cluster of Ocarina 2400R Reader nodes and load balance client traffic across them.
