Ocarina 2400

The Ocarina 2400 Storage Optimizer is a high-performance ECOsystem appliance that delivers Ocarina’s content-aware compression and dedupe solution. Capable of optimizing up to 2 million files per day, the Ocarina 2400 can read through large data sets on your existing storage, optimize them, and write them back to that storage in as little as 1/10th the space.

The Ocarina 2400 uses 8 high-performance compute cores to run Ocarina’s advanced patented data reduction algorithms. It is an out-of-band appliance. It does not sit in the write path, or impact write performance in any way. You tell the Ocarina 2400 which files you want to have optimized by policy – for example, all the files that have not been modified in 30 days – and the 2400 will find those files, apply the ECOsystem algorithms, and reduce the space they take.

An Ocarina Optimizer 2400 pair can process as much as 1.5 TB a day of customer files, including already-compressed files, compound documents, and rich media files. At a 10:1 optimization ratio, the 2400 could generate as much as 500 GB a day of new free space – representing 44TB of storage per quarter that you don’t have to buy, cool, or power. For customers who wish to optimize more data per day, Ocarina 2400’s can be clustered together to optimize more data per day.
